Uptime Kuma alternative
MoniterMySite as a hosted Uptime Kuma alternative
Uptime Kuma is a popular free, open-source monitoring tool you install and run on your own server. MoniterMySite is a managed service that checks from five regions and confirms outages before alerting. Neither is strictly better; this page compares them honestly at the time of writing and explains how to move across.
Comparison checked on 7 October 2026. Uptime Kuma is a trademark of its owner; details change, so confirm current plans on their site.
MoniterMySite and Uptime Kuma at a glance
Uptime Kuma is loved for good reasons. It is free, open source, quick to install with Docker, covers many monitor types and notification providers, and ships a status page. Because you host it, your data stays with you and there is no subscription. The trade-off is that you are the operator: server, upgrades, backups, TLS and the machine's own uptime are yours, and one instance watches from one place.
MoniterMySite is the hosted alternative. We run probes in New York, San Francisco, Frankfurt, Singapore and Sydney, store the history, and open an incident only when your chosen number of regions agree. Seven monitor types, eight alert channels, status pages on your own domain and unlimited team members are included, with USD pricing and a free Starter plan.
If you enjoy running infrastructure and mostly monitor internal services, keep Uptime Kuma. If you would rather not depend on one box, need a view from several continents, or want someone else on the hook for the monitoring system itself, MoniterMySite is the practical choice.
Side by side
| Feature | MoniterMySite | Uptime Kuma |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | Fully managed: we run the probes, database, upgrades and backups. | Self-hosted: you provide the server, upgrades, backups and TLS. |
| Cost | USD, monthly or yearly, via Razorpay; 14-day money-back guarantee on your first paid subscription. | Free and open source; your costs are the server and the time to run it. |
| Monitoring regions | 5 regions on 4 continents (New York, San Francisco, Frankfurt, Singapore, Sydney); up to 3 per monitor on Launch, all on Growth and Summit. | One location per instance; multiple regions mean running several instances yourself. |
| False-alarm protection | Per-region fail threshold plus multi-region confirmation before an incident opens. | Retry counts before alerting; no multi-region confirmation in a single instance. |
| Fastest check interval | 5 min (Starter), 60 s (Launch), 30 s (Growth), 10 s (Summit); down monitors re-checked every minute. | Configurable intervals, limited only by your server's capacity. |
| Monitor types | 7: HTTP(S), keyword, ping, port, DNS, SSL certificate, heartbeat. | A wide range including HTTP, keyword, ping, port, DNS and push-style heartbeat checks. |
| Alert channels | 8: email, webhook, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Telegram, PagerDuty. | A very large list of community-maintained notification providers. |
| Status pages | Every plan; custom domain from Launch, password protection from Growth, subscribers, announcements, scheduled maintenance. | Built-in status pages; custom domains depend on how you host it. |
| Monitoring the monitor | Our probes are our problem; the service is operated and supported by us. | If the host goes down, so does your monitoring. |
| Team members | Unlimited on every plan, with four roles. | Single-instance login; multi-user support has historically been limited. |
Which one should you choose?
Choose MoniterMySite if
- You want checks from several continents with confirmation, without running five servers.
- You do not want the monitoring system to depend on a single host you have to patch and back up.
- You need a team with roles, PagerDuty integration and a status page on your own domain, supported by a vendor.
- You would rather pay a small amount than discover your monitoring box was down at 3 a.m.
Choose Uptime Kuma if
- You want to self-host, keep every byte of data on your own infrastructure and pay no subscription.
- Most targets are on a private network that a hosted probe cannot reach.
- You enjoy running open-source software and have a server with spare capacity.
- You need one of Kuma's many niche notification providers that MoniterMySite does not offer.
Moving from Uptime Kuma to MoniterMySite
- List your Uptime Kuma monitors from the dashboard: type, target, interval, retries and the notifications each one uses.
- Create a MoniterMySite account (Starter is free) and recreate each monitor under Monitors → Add monitor with the same interval; map Kuma retries to the fail threshold and pick your regions.
- Add alert contacts for the channels you used and send a test from each. For push monitors, point your cron jobs at the new heartbeat URL.
- Allowlist our five probe IP addresses and the MoniterMySite/1.0 user agent (listed at /docs/allowlisting) in your firewall or WAF, so a 403 or 429 is not mistaken for an outage.
- Run both services in parallel for a week, compare incidents and response times, tune thresholds and confirmation, then pause the old account.
- Rebuild the status page under Status pages and, on Launch or above, repoint your status subdomain's CNAME to monitermysite.com. Keep Kuma for anything on a private network.
Frequently asked questions
Can MoniterMySite monitor internal services?
Only targets reachable from the public internet via our five published IPs. For private networks, keep Uptime Kuma or use heartbeat monitors, where your internal job pings us.
Is there a self-hosted version of MoniterMySite?
No. MoniterMySite is a managed service; we run the probes and the database so you do not have to.
How is this different from running several Kuma instances?
Several Kuma instances give you several viewpoints but no shared confirmation: each alerts on its own. MoniterMySite rotates checks across regions and opens one incident only when the regions you choose agree.
What does it cost compared with free software?
Starter is free with 10 monitors and 5-minute checks. Paid plans are priced in USD, monthly or yearly, charged through Razorpay, with a 14-day money-back guarantee on your first subscription.
